Duration: 1 h

Description

Imagine an opera stage where no one knows what will happen next — not even the performers. From an idea suggested by the audience, an aria emerges that may move you to tears or send the room into laughter — and it will never be performed again.”
Opera improvisation is perhaps the most demanding form of improvisation, as it combines both theatrical and musical improvisation. Everything seen and heard on stage is created in the moment: scenes are sung in a classical vocal style, and the performers invent the story, the text, the music, and the stage action as they go. This form of improvisation is highly interactive and rewarding for the audience, who can influence many elements of the performance — from characters and plot to themes and musical styles. The performers bring the audience’s ideas to life without holding anything back.
Improa! was originally founded in 2005, and its members include professional opera singers and pianists specialized in improvisation. The group is known for creating full‑length improvised operas in dynamic interaction with the audience. This performance will feature at least sopranos Mia Heikkinen and Jenni Lättilä, as well as pianist Mikko Helenius.
